Your welcome,
I like to get rid of junk, too. Here's some more for you to work on. =) You can key
in several file extensions at the same time, just seperate with a semi-colon....no
spaces.
*.000 *.001 *.002 *.003 (etc.) *.---
*.CHK *.Gid *.Bak *.OLD *.prv *.fts *.ftg chklist
*.ftg chklist *mscreate.dir
Safe to delete anything beginning with ~ such as ~mssetup.t
Get rid of any pre-installed "Online Services" folder. Go into "Add/Remove Programs"
in the Control Panel and uninstall it, then go into "Windows Explorer" and delete
the entire folder.
Get rid of any programs, drivers, updates, patches, etc. that you previously downloaded
and installed and still have stored in a download folder. Unless you have a reason
to keep any of them for a future reinstall, delete them all.
Get rid of excessive screensavers. Type *.SCR, then bring up the list. Open each
one to see what it is. Delete the ones you no longer use or want. (Note: If a screensaver
is listed in "Add/Remove Programs" or is listed in the Start menu with an "Uninstall"
or "Remove" option, remove it that way instead of just deleting the file)
Get rid of excessive video clips. Type *.MOV, then open each one and see what it
is. Delete the ones you no longer use or want. Do the same with *.AVI files.
(Note: A new computer normally comes with several introductory and advertisement-type
movie clips where can consume a lot of hard drive space)
Once you are finished, view contents, and Empty the Recyle Bin. Once you empty the
Recycle Bin, a lot of free space will be scattered all over your hard drive. Run
Scan Disk and Defragmenter to optimize your hard drive and speed things up. Reboot.
