I also would like to remove the standby option.  (The reason why is irrelevant)  
I read that if you remove the Advanced Power Management from the Device Manager, 
System Devices that Standby will not show up.  However, on our new systems we don't 
have APM, we have ACPI.  I removed that, and all hell broke loose.  It's a good thing 
I had a backup image.

Does anyone know how to remove the Standby option from a system with ACPI, without 
removing ACPI?
