Same here. These fixed files can be generated by system restore particularly if they 
show in goups of three rows across the screen. Answer, disable system restore and 
run defrag in safe mode. I don't use system restore BECAUSE OF this problem. I just 
use the Windows start-up diskette (bootdisk) and type scanreg /restore at the DOS 
prompt (C:\>) and have deleted the _RESTORE file. Windows builds a new one, but it 
is practically empty and can be made read-only and system so that it stays at zero 
bytes, if you want to do so.
