Is your system an up-grade from 9x? I had so many problems with system restore I just don't care to use it anymore. Also it DID make a mess of system resources with just coming on when they were already low. Better with it off. With 256Mb SDRAM I use a program called RAMpage to keep resources free, AND a registry modification to make the system unload dll's which are not actually in use.
