Thanks John. For years I have been using a neat little utility called Taskinfo for
keeping track of TSRs running on my system.
See http://www.iarsn.com/index.html for the latest version. Still it has not helped
me resolve the Scandisk problem but I will look at your tips.
In desperation I usually reboot in "Safe" mode (holding Ctrl while booting) and run
scandisk and defrag. I hope this is not too risky.
