Keeping Windows ME Running Well v4
Not everyone can AFFORD to move from ME or struggle with 9x and buy expensive XP
or 2000 Professional.
Having spent good money on a 1.0Ghz 256Mb SDRAM 19" monitor with DSL, LAN card and
modem, a DVD-ROM and CD-RW , Bancontact Card reader and Banking Software, wheel-mouse
and muti-media keyboard, Audio Technology speakers, NVIDIA TV-Out, plus a Xerox WorkCentre
M940 , and which says "designed for Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" next to
the "Intel Inside Pentium III" sticker, but which was supplied by the OEM with Windows
ME and wrongly set up on FAT16 on a 60Gb Disk, getting this to work at ALL has been
quite a struggle.
Reading the posting can give others clues as to the reasons why this became a major
struggle.
I see '98se systems which are often slowed to a CRAWL but they don't crash with Blue
Screens like this OS ... used ... to do.
When I can AFFORD to move to an NTFS or 64-bit system and can AFFORD to lose one
year old software and hardware then I will agree with the sentiments which you have
consistently expressed about Windows ME.
In the ... meantime ... I have to keep it working, and it is now working VERY well!
Otherwise those with ME can always chose to read:
