First either load a DOS prompt and go to C:\ or go to My Computer and then to C:\.
In Windows, right click on MSDOS.SYS and go to properties and untag the attributes
(mainly read only). In DOS, do
ATTRIB -R -H -S MSDOS.SYS
Then you can use notepad in Windows or EDIT in DOS to edit the file. (Yes, it is
a plain text file, unlike the older MSDOS.SYS files which were part of the OS kernel
and contained machine code).
