I have shutdown problems twice.Both times It was a hardware problem.The first time my cdrw went bad and I think it was writing to the drive.Fix was change cdrw.Second time was recently with a new dsl modem.(2wirebrand) went bad after only 6 hours of use 2wire determined it was bad and sent another in only 3 days.I uninstalled software and browser software too,still wouldnt shutdown .Fix restore to before installation.new modem reinstall software.Works great now.
