After bringing up NT in VGA mode (like safe mode for 98), then bringing up PC in normal mode, things were ok... Until I changed the icon size in Control Panel --> display --> appearance. Then all icons went bad again (after a reboot). I went to VGA mode and did not delete the shelliconcache file, and then just rebooted in normal mode, and things were fine again. I go and change the icon size again, and I had a problem again. But this time I noticed a pattern. All my desktop Icons that never had a shortcut arrow were the ones that were fine (undamaged). All my desktop Icons that did have a shortcut arrow had the same Icon overlaying the old good Icon. So, I could still see the original icon below the 'corrupt' icon when the good icon was bigger than the 'corrupt' icon. Did any of you try changing your icon size again to see if your icons became corrupt again? Any ideas what can solve this mess?
