Internet Explorer & Folders 'Slow' To Open

Whenever I start my computer, it asks for my MS Networking Password - I just hit
Enter because I dont use a password for it. If I do not repeatedly hit Enter for
the first 20 seconds after the screen appears, it takes me two minutes for my request
to be carried out by the computer.
When I want to start Internet Explorer, it loads up the IE program and then waits
around 20 seconds before it shows me it properly - even when having about:blank as
default page. Also, when using folders in 'Web Page View' as 98 calls it, the system
appears VERY slow, and it can take around 20 seconds before anything loads into it.
I know I am a dinosaur by these days standards (Ive got 128MB Ram), but surely it
shouldn't be running this slow?
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.
