Hi ALL
Thanks for all your help.
The problem was with the Intellimouse connected to the USB port. As long as that
was connected, the system would not get past the HP blue logo screen. There were
no audible beeps from BIOS to trouble shoot.
After posting my problem to annoyances.org I got a few excellent suggestions. One
of them was to check out the beeps from the BIOS. Unfortunately there were no BEEPS.
The second one was to disconnect all devices like hard drives, network cards and
anything which is not needed. I tried all these but it did not work. I also removed
the CMOS battery and put it back but that did not help.
Ouf of curiosity, I disconnected the mouse connected to the USB port (because I know
that I do not need the mouse in BIOS) and VOLA, the system was able to get into BIOS.
Later I had to switch back to the PS2 mouse to get everything back to normal. Of
course I reset the date in the BIOS.
Thanks once again to all of you and this site which is a valuable resource.
