However .....
This restored me to version 6.4, and I can't seem to install version 7 - I get a
Windows Media Component Setup dialog box with an empty list of components that will
be installed, and the 'next' button disabled. Description reads "You have the latest
version of the Windows Media Player and all its components. No upgrade is available
at this time."
Well, at least 6.4 is functional and doesn't crash XP.
