Basically it boils down to increased desktop and file security & a more robust system 
less prone to crashes.
When it does crash, recovery is easier & reinstalling the OS isn't usually necessary.
Downside is that it's more suited to the corporate environment & therefore a bigger 
target for hackers & virus writers.
Not really mean't for gaming & entertainment.
Go with XP and you'll get the best of both world's.
