Charles, all you should need to do to get rid of this hijacker is run the CWShredder
tool. This page has information that will give you an idea what you're dealing with.

There's really nothing you could have done to prevent it. A firewall doesn't stop
it. Disabling ActiveX installs doesn't stop it, etc. Once you reboot, it may execute
again, so just make sure you have the most recent shredder tool and run it again
after rebooting. After looking at the article, you'll see it's a strange one.
