Stacy: SERIOUS likelihood that if selective start-up
slim-downs does not do the trick (Jessica on 9/17), it
is part of the heavy-duty trojan-horse/virus crap of the
past 2 weeks. Spoybot w/ Norton A/V and Internet Sec./Pers. Firewall almost did
it for me. However, the
"thorough" Scan Disc function would not work through
to the end. I used the Dr. Watson (Search Files) appl.
included in Win ME and it has a disc scan function. It
took over an hour but it ran full-cycle. I then used the
computer for a few hours of assorted tasks and then,
before shut-down, ran the regular Scan Disc and it
worked fine in less than 15 minutes of run-time. Defrag followed and went to 100%
within a half-hour.
Maybe this will help.
