When it fails, can you reach your Linksys router through http://192.168.1.1 OK, and check the status? That tells you everything is working that far.

Can you reach your Cable modem at http://192.168.100.1 and check its status? If you can, check your cables DownStream signal power and that it is in range of 15 dBvM to -14 dBvM. You could have a weak signal due to a bad cable connector, splitter or cable. If it drops out, it may have trouble getting sync until it is powered off. Check the Upstream power, if it is above 56 dBvM it could be causing your modem to over heat and you need to fix your cable connectors to bring it back down into the 40's range. But if you had those kinds of signal power problems, I would have expected your Cable tech's to have detected it and to send out someone to check the reading levels at your house ground block.

Some people find they have to power their modem and router off one a day to keep things working well. I have to power cycle mine about once a week.
