Hi Harken,
"Shortcuts" are just links to the executable. There's no point in saving those because
when you format your hard drive prior to reinstalling Windows, it will erase all
the data.
It's very easy to create shortcuts though. You can try this before you format
/ reinstall so that you know how to do it.
I'm going to use "Sound Recorder" in this example which is located via Start > Programs
> Accessories > Entertainment > Sound Recorder. Instead of clicking "Sound Recorder"
to launch it, simply move the mouse to it to highlight it, then click and drag it
out of the menu with the right mouse button and choose a blank part of the
desktop to let go in. You'll get a menu. choose "Create Shortcut Here".
Some programs don't install though and you merely click the .exe file to launch
it. With those, right click the .exe file and choose "Create Shortcut" from the menu.
If you've got Windows Explorer open full screen, double click the title bar at the
very top and it'll reduce in size so that you can see the desktop in the background.
Drag and drop the shortcut you created to the desktop.
Hope this helps.
