Hi Jeannette,

Perform a clean boot by going to Start > Run > type msconfig > click OK.
Checkmark the option "Selective Startup" and remove all the checkmarks from the five fields listed below such as "Process System.ini" for example.
Click OK and reboot. Your screen will only be running in 16 colors, but you should now be able to run Scandisk.
Once it's finished, go back to "msconfig" and checkmark the option "Normal startup".

As regards the kernel32 errors, Windows saves the details to a file called "Faultlog.txt" which you can access by going to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information. Click the word "Tools" and choose "Faultlog.txt" from the menu. Copy & paste the details into your next post please.
