You most likely have lots of programs running that you are not aware of. There are over a hundred Windows ME programs running that get loaded when you boot the system. Just run the System Tools - System Information program and go to the "Software Environment" and "Loaded Modules" to get an idea what is loaded. The "Running Tasks" will show the active programs running. And virus and spyware like to hid from you.

So have you ran AD-Aware_v6 and/or SpyBot_S&D to check for Spyware_AD-ware?
