Start by running a
CWshredder.exe scan. Just OPEN it, and close all other windows including Internet
Explorer. Then run it. When done reboot system. Then download AD-Aware_v6 and after installing
and updating its reference files, run a custom full scan, select to run all tests
it will let you. Remove everything it finds. There is a lot of things the
Virus removal program does not remove, like Spyware_AD-ware.
Then work through all the items in Windows ME Fixes to clean
the system up more. Start with removing any junk applications you know you don't
need or want (like KaZaA and other download p2p applications and "Internet Accelerators").
Some where along the line, things should get better and you might find what is causing
these programs to start at startup.
