1. Boot the machine into Safe Mode. To do that, hit the F8 key a few times immediately
after the BIOS screen disappears as the machine boots. 2. At the Windows Startup
menu, choose #3 Safe Mode. 3. When the machine boots to the desktop in Safe Mode,
you'll get a full screen "Help & Support" window. You don't need that, so just close
it. 4. Now go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
Choose the option to "Restore my computer to an earlier time". 5. The next thing
you'll see is a calendar. Choose a "Restore Point" from that which is prior to the
moment when you deleted the User.dat file. Windows will restore the configuration
which was valid at that time.
