You need to restore your system Registry. Windows ME makes a backup copy the first
time you boot the system each day. That is what the ScanReg entry in the MSCONFIG
Startup tab list does for your. You can go back and restore it to the morning boot
before you made your mistake. All changes made after that boot up will be lost.
First try going to the START - RUN option and enter:
SCANREGW /RESTORE
It will give you a list of five restore dates to try. Use the one with the Date and
Time prior to you big mistake.
If you can not boot, try it from Safe Mode. Else you will have to boot from a
Windows ME boot diskette and run:
SCANREG /RESTORE
and do it from a DOS prompt.
