Hi Jim,

The fact that the installation didn't complete may have been due to a disconnection either at your end or in Microsoft's server.

To test whether IE is installed properly or not, go to Start > Run, type IEXPLORE.EXE and click OK.
If you can get on the Web, go here and download "Hijack This!" and then post the log file here. We can then take a look at it and see if there's anything suspicious.
