Hi Worm,

First off, I want to thank you for your knowledge. For many months I've had problems
shutting down my PC (sometimes the only way is to pull the plug) ….and rebooting
is no shorter than a ten minute long prayer as ScanDisk “starts&stops”…until finally
spitting out words “your drive’s boot area is damaged or invalid….fix the error…replay
2 times…system finishes it’s boot….acts like nothing happened. This happens about
7 out 10 shut downs. (If I immediately shut down & reboot it never hangs).

…So tired of this, I started troubleshooting….scans, defrags, probes, poke & peek
stuff. The only thing I could find abnormal was the absence file creation date which
seemed to be effecting some system files. I found the 2067 date while looking through
the Zone Labs components list.

As you suggested, I did check for other odd file dates. Oodles of “2067’ files came
up, fortunately all in the Java folder. (I just upgraded Java a few days ago.) In
another post I read something about a clean boot and thought I’d try that.

…ScanDisk intervenes and does its replay thing but gives me some additional information
in between. Below is one of the messages:

>>The 'C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_01' folder contains incorrect information
about 'LICENSE_zh_CN.rtf'.

This file or folder's last-modified date or time is invalid or is in the future.
This may be because your computer's clock is set incorrectly. ScanDisk repairs future
dates by changing them to your computer's current date setting. ScanDisk repairs
out-of-range dates or times by changing them to the nearest setting within the valid
range.

This file or folder's creation date is invalid or is in the future. This may be because
your computer's clock is set incorrectly. ScanDisk repairs future dates by changing
them to "unknown". ScanDisk repairs out-of-range dates by changing them to the nearest
setting within the valid range.<<

So I checked one of the files I let ScanDisk fix and sure enough the “creation file
date” is now blank….just like some of my system files. My computer’s clock is fine
so I don’t understand what’s causing this.
