Hello Hubert, I have had ME for three years and I would give it a miss altogether.
'98se systems are FAR more stable.
I would only use the ME CD if you plan on immediately installing XP as an upgrade
purchase. But then your own Hardware/Software configuration might not be up to running
XP.
ME needs a minimum of 256Mb RAM to run properly and 512Mb is much better, in keeping
with XP requirements.
ALL of the NEW XP Multi-Media/Multi-Tasking computers I see for sale have 512Mb DDR
RAM and a faster bus speed & processor too.
ME has ALL of the problems which are avoided by sticking to '98se, and NONE of the
benefits of XP.
The only way I got ME to run properly was by stripping it down to run like '98se
anyway, and I even used '98 Lite to break down some of the IE Browser interconnectivity.
You can try using '98lite to speed up your '98se computer if you want to give it
a try.
See this post by Scaramouche on the PC Q&A Forum, that is so interesting that I have
emailed the company to see if they will change the monitor design for a project I
have in mind.
CREATIVE Weapon
In the meantime I am also experimenting with KNOPPIX (Linux) which runs from a CD
or DVD and, being burned onto plastic, is ENTIRELY, virus & maintenance free.
Best idea I have seen in a loooooooong t i i i i i i i i i i ime.
