It normally works fine that way. After removing the device in Device Mgr. and rebooting, once back at the desktop, you should get a message that Windows has detected new hardware and will reinstall the software for it. If for some reason the driver's still not installed, you'll need to install them manually, from the directory they're in, by browsing to the location.
