Mac, I am having the same problem as that described here. I followed your instructions
(from safe mode) but I had only two of the files you mentioned: "program files/Internet
Explorer/w2k/migrate" which I changed from .dll to .old and the "program files/pit;ppl
ex[ress/9xmig" for which I also changed dll to old.
I do not have the other files listed and your instructions are not very clear on
the last item "program files/windows media player wmp". What should it be changed
to?
I have NOT had the WINSPOOL.DRV problem (knock on wood.)
I am tempted to try Scott's suggestion, but I don't totally understand it, either.
Pardon my ignorance, but how do I get to the DOS prompt? My computer starts in
Save Mode. When I DO finally find the dos prompt, do I just type in "c:/windows/system/wmp*.*",
literally?
Pardon, but many of the references and modes of giving advice are written in language
that I don't totally understand (and I'm not really all that green to the ways of
the computer.)
I hope someone is still checking this thread, I really don't want to buy a new hard
disk (as Dell suggested...buggers.).
Thanks, Kipper
