Sometimes I forget to ask this, and it's something a few people still try to ignore,
to their own detriment, and it's why the modern PC on/off switches don't just power
down right away without keeping it pressed in for ten seconds. "How are you exiting
from IE?"
A great many programs wait until a normal exit is performed before saving any changes.
If you were to press and hold the power button down as your usual manner of quitting
Windows because it "Shuts Down Too Slowly", then of course the change of home page
was never recorded.
I never liked IE. And I only use it in emergencies, or with "Live Update" sites
that insist upon it. But I do know that Mozilla, which is the browser that I do
use, doesn't save that sort of thing until you exit it in a normal manner. For all
I know, that may NOT even include a "forced exit" when Windows itself tells Mozilla
to close. IE may want a separate exit of its own, if it was like Mozilla seems to
be in that regard.
