The system boots sporadically (about every 5th time), but continues to freeze after
about 5 minutes. This happens even in safe mode. My BIOS has an update, but I can't
get the system stabilized long enough to update. I can't figure out what is causing
it to freeze. I have tried not loading SYS.INI, window driver files, smartdrv and
others - same results. SCANDISK did not find any errors on the drive, it is listed
in the BIOS.
Did not get a chance to Defrag, yet.
I think the BIOS update is required to stop the sporadiac booting (10GB vs 20GB).
But I can't figure out what driver or program is causing the system to freeze when
it does boot. It may be BIOS related too.
I guess I will have to break down and take it to the shop. My guess he will have
to use a 10 GB HD to stabilize the system to update the BIOS and then replace my
20 GB to see if it works.
Any other ideas, before I dig deep in my pocket???
