If you can get to Start>Run , and type msconfig , go to File Extract and type: shell32.dll in the window. Press enter. On the top line look for C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS , and on the bottom line look for: C:\WINDOW\SYSTEM , and click OK. When asked if you want to keep the backup file in C:\WINDOWS\MSConfig\Backups , answer Yes. When complete you will be asked to reboot the computer. If you can't get to the Run window then, with a Windows Bootdiskette, boot to DOS choosing Minimum Boot to get you to the A:\> prompt and type: A:\>EXTRACT C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS shell32.dll /l C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM (That is a lower case L in the /l switch.) ... and press Enter. Answer Y if asked to do so. Reboot. I hope that this clears up the problem for you.
