whether the computer has an on-board video card or a separate card in a pci slot,
it needs a driver. the cd that came with the motherboard should have the driver
on it. often there will be more than one, for different versions of the card. that's
why you need to try to read it on the screen on boot up, so you can install the correct
driver.
put the cd in the computer,right click on the desktop, click properties, settings,
advanced, adaptors, change then search for an updated driver and see if windows can
find it.
