I checked the MSCONFIG startup list and *STATEMGR is there. But when I look at the TASK LIST(cntl, alt, del) I don't see it. Is is running under another name? Also, I can't get HOUSECALL to run. I go to it and download, and get an ERROR CODE: 28 and then ERROR STRING: Generic source network failure. Do you want to retry. I answer yes and it just keeps getting the same error message. Also, I am not running AOL. I have run a scan with my Norton Antivirus and it shows no viruses. I did get rid of the files by disabling Restore, rebooting, enabling Restore, and rebooting again. I will try the SMARTDRV function next time. Thanks for your help, If you have any other suggestions, I will be checking this link. Mike

By chance, are you running AOL on that system? AOL has a number of work files

It is not normal for these programs to remain and build up like that in the System
