some ideas, don't know if any will work-- look in add\remove programs to see if there's anything there that shouldn't be. for example, newnet is a program that sometimes comes back after using a spyware cleaner. also from start, run, msconfig, startup it will show up as being checked. uncheck it or note anything you think you don't need and look on the net to see what it is. also do a search to find the file called host. right click and click properties to check each one. one or more will be from 2000, a windows file. a couple more will be from spybot, those are okay. any that are suspicious, such as having a date when the trouble started, rename to something like host5. then if they are needed you can rename them back. and did try disabling system restore to see if that helped? that lets loose of everything being held there and you can enable it again. donna
