I'm sorry, I thought I specified that I had disabled both the native (WinME) system restore and Gateway's version of Adaptec's GoBack. That was the first thing I did. (Actually, the system restore was already disabled because I don't think it will co-exist with GoBack). In any event, the "Disable system Restore" box is checked, and has been throughout this adventure.
