Well, despite my somewhat short reply to Pappy when he suggested I turn off Restore,
I was able to delete the files. Actually, I re-enabled Restore (with GoBack disabled),
re-booted in normal mode, and simply deleted all the "protected" files in the "hidden"
\_restore\[subdirectories]. I then ran Symantec's FSNetsky, and it told me that
I had Restore running and suggested I disable it. I told it to run anyway. It didn't
find anything. When it finished, it told me that Restore was disabled and that I
should re-enable it. ?!?!? I ran Vcleaner again as well as AVG. Both scanned it
as clean. I ran Fred Langa's Cleanup.BAT file, scan disked, and defragged. I call
this one done, and good riddance to it.
BTW, a responce I got on Computing.net pointed out that GoBack changes the drive
parameters, thereby causing any boot from a floppy to not "see" the hard drive, or
to report it as a non-DOS drive. Once again, Adaptec alters basic Windows/DOS parameters
so that only their software works on a machine. (Remember the MDAC changes with
EZCD4?) Best reason I can think of to not EVER buy anything from Adaptec. JMHO.
Anyway, Thanks to everyone.
