USB Device cannot be stopped right now-try again later

I have two computers with ME, one works fine when I want to disconnect my camera or mp3 player. I click the USB Device icon and click "stop USB Device", then I get a message saying it is now OK to disconnect device. The other computer comes up with "USB Device cannot be stopped at this time - try stopping the device later", so I come back later and I get the same message. I just unplug the device regardless and then I get a message saying I shouldn't do that. So far there have been no dire consequences, and it beats waiting for it to be "OK". I have yet to see it reach that point. Anybody got a fix for this, or do I really need my machine to play "Simon says" with me? Jim
