comp freezes when it loads desktop.

When i turn my machine on it goes through the stages of loading up when it gets to
where it's suppose to load my desktop it freezes. My desktop loads my icons and after
that it freezes the background is blue, it doesn't load my wallpaper so what's the
problem... windows me.
