If you are not using Microsoft Network for your
ISP, then "regedit" your HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
entry for Network Logon and completely remove
the line for Microsoft Network Logon.
You don't need it. It presents a major pain in the
arse when all you want to do is reboot your system
as you do system maintenance. The way it is, you
cannot just go to the bathroom or get a cup of
coffee since it always stops at that blasted point
where you have to type something, making you BE
THERE all the time.
Delete the entry in your HKEY current machine
entry for Network Logon for Microsoft Network.
After that, you will be able to log on with your
user name, no password (provided you didn't put
one in the first time) and it won't try to make you
log onto the network (which is useless unless you
are on an intranet LAN/WAN).
Hope that helps.
