I had this same problem, and this solution helped me to solve it. Thank you.

However, it is important to note anyone following your instructions verbatum will
be in trouble. First, you made a syntax error:

>Rename c:\windows\system wmp*.dll *.old
>
>Rename c:\windows\system wmp.ocx *.xoc Typing this as you wrote it will rename the system folder and prevent re-installation. The correct syntax is: Rename c:\windows\system\wmp*.dll *.old and Rename c:\windows\system\wmp.ocx *.xoc Second, anyone not familair with DOS will be unable to follow some of these steps. Remember that DOS names things diffrently then windows. Any filename with two words gets abberviated. Example: Rename c:\program files\Internet\W2k\migrate.dll *.old should read: Rename c:\progra~1\intern~1\W2k\migrate.dll *.old Any two-word file name with more then six letters get shortened to the first six letters, a tilde (~) and a numerical value, ususally 1. Examples: Program Files = Progra~1 Outlook Express = Outloo~1 Internet Explorer = Intern~1 I hope this is helpful. Joe
