I'm having a problem similar to the one that Leah described... I created a bookdisk
as you suggested to Leah, and began running ScanDisk at the A prompt.

Shortly after it began running, it stopped and I got the following error:

ScanDisk encountered a data error while reading the FAT on Drive C. This error prevents
ScanDisk from fixing this drive.

What can I do about this?

I'm using AdAware, Spybot and Norton firewall and antivirus on my computer, fyi.

I did not understand your comment about using Delindex.bat or CCleaner on the bootdisk
to clean out old junk files. I'm sure there is a lot of junk... but I am unclear
about how to remove them. Are these freeware? If I download them, are they self-explanatory
or is there a special procedure to get them to run...?

Any advice you can offer would be appreciated... thanks. - Ed
