People make the mistake of reinstalling Windows,
assuming it'll fix any problems they're having. It often
causes more problems. There might have been a way to recover from that crash.
My opinion is, you'd be better off doing a clean install of ME. For sure, Norton
is a resource hog and adds many entries into startup. It's not a good choice to be
frank. Have you done disk maintenance, scan disk and defrag, clear out temp files,
etc.?
