My Dell was originally delivered with Win98. Dell then sent the WinME upgrade
when it became available.
Why would Dell send (give?) you an upgrade CD for a newer OS?? I'm sorry, but I find
that hard to believe. That just doesn't happen. You need to purchase any Windows
CD, upgrade or no upgrade. You'd have been better off sticking with 98, and most
consider ME a downgrade. It requires a lot of tweaking to get it running decent.
You only added to your problems.
Did you get restore disks with your system? If so, you can uise those to restore
your system to factory state. Otherwise, if you have a 98 CD, you can do a clean
install with a ME upgrade disk. You just need the 98 CD, when the install requests
proof there's a system to upgrade "from".
