The only thing I've heard of that can cause the list to disappear, is running a registry
cleaner. I'm sure it could be something else. I only know of two things to try, run
the registry checker to repair/rebuild the registry and/or merge this .REG file into
the registry. Download this file to your desktop. You should be offline, and I'd
close all open windows. Double click to merge, and you'll get a message it's been
successful.
FixAddRemove.reg
If that doesn't fix it...assuming you're running ME, you'll need a ME startup diskette
(boot disk) to boot to the command prompt. If you don't have one, you can create
one. Get a blank floppy diskette, go into Add/Remove programs. Stick the disk in
the floppy drive, click the startup disk tab and choose Create disk.
Then boot your system with the startup disk. At the A:\ prompt, type: C: Hit Enter.
At the C:\> type scanreg/fix Hit Enter. Windows will repair/rebuild the registry.
This takes a few minutes. When finished, hit Enter. Remove the disk from teh drive,
then do a CTRL_ALT_DEL reboot, or type: win and press Enter to get back into
Windows.
