There must have been some registry corruption. I suggest you go to this location: C:\WINDOWS\SYSBCKUP and delete the rbxxx.bad file the scanreg/fix created. It's no longer useful. The other backups have the .CAB extension, so you can delete any with the .BAD extension. (Note: xxx is the number of the reg backup. You'll need to make sure hidden files are showing.
