I had the same problem "error with NvQTwk" after downloading the last patch of Microsoft for XP, which has probably changed something in my nvidia registry. I have done as you indicated. I have also chosen to install all the drivers proposed even if the installation program said that the drivers already installed were newer. The problem has disappeared. Thank you very much.
