Windows Updates causes Iexplore error

If I choose 'Tools', and 'Windows Update', the Microsoft site comes up and scans
for necessary updates, but before finishing, I get an error stating that Ieplore
has caused an error in MSHTML.DLL. Ieplore will now close. What is my problem and
how can I get my updates? My current version of Internet Explorer is 6.0.2800.1106IS
