I need some serious help. My CD-Rom stopped reading disks. The CD-Rom opens when I click the button, and a green light is present, but when I right click the icon in "my computer" the eject option is missing. I've checked the device manager but it says that it's working properly. It doesn't even respond to a disk during system start-up. I've removed it from the device manager hoping the PC would recognize new hardware upon a restart, but it doesn't, however, the CD-Rom will still be present in device manager and my computer. I think somehow that the driver was deleted, but I can't seem to find any drivers on the internet that will work. I used a site called "driverguide" and thought I had success when I saw a driver for the make and model, but the doggone thing didn't open properly. I tried the windows update site and the manufacturers site with no luck either. I can't use a system recovery disk 'cause it won't read it, and I don't have a floppy. I am frustrated beyond belief, and on top of that I have a mega slow internet connection!!! PLEASE help...the PC is an older model HP Pavilion running Windows ME and the real kicker is that it's my Mom's PC and now she's really in my ear cause this problem never exhisted until I used to computer!!! Thanks
