Yes, Mike, if you have to buy new go for the XP Home... you can always configure it to the Classic Windows look if you find the XP interface offensive (as I do).

Linux is an acquired taste - anything which erodes MS dominance is a good thing, of course, but if you're conditioned to the MS interface, some of the Linux offerings can be very non-intuitive and, contrary to what you might have been led to believe, they are not universally stable and reliable on every machine. I tried running Lindows on a Compaq Deskpro, and it couldn't be left alone for half an hour without crashing fatally (could it be that we need an Annoyances site for Linux now???!!!)
