OK, if no one among your closer friends has one to copy, you can shop on eBay, and
probably find it at a decent price. But the Win-"ME" version was a loser. Way too
many problems, never fixed. XP-home, like Linux, may have to be an "acquired taste".
I didn't acquire it myself.
Depending on the age of your friend's machine, XP may prove too sluggish, anyway.
I would rather use either Win98se or W2K than WinME, although Win2K also offers
some issues of getting used to it. There is one minor thing in WinME's favor. The
support for Win98se will be expiring next summer, and WinME will be the only "W9x"
still supported.
