I changed the settings in Control Panel>Network to "Windows Logon" and hoped against hope that this would work, Jack. It didn't. Microsoft says "there's no way their engineers can retrieve passwords." The appearance during the booting "process" of the password screen is an inconvenience and one I will keep trying to quash.
